Swimming the Blues

Jean Rouch and I had been planning several years ago to make this film, for which he had found the title, Swimming the Blues. I then left for Africa for six months, but stayed for seven, and Jean passed away on the day of my return to Paris. I have only recently felt like picking up the pieces and have started filming Jean's friends and colleagues, of which Philo Bregstein, Paul Henley, Inoussa Ousseini...

Jean Rouch et moi-même avions planifié il y a plusieurs années de faire ce film, pour lequel il avait trouvé le titre, Swimming the Blues. Je suis ensuite parti pour l'Afrique pour six mois, mais je suis restée pendant sept ans, et Jean est décédé le jour de mon retour à Paris. Il m'a fallu plusieurs années avant de pouvoir reprendre la réalisation du film. En l'absence de l'intéressé principale, j'ai commencé à filmer les amis et les collègues de Jean, dont Philo Bregstein, Paul Henley, Inoussa Ousseini ...
