*k éditeur was originally founded in 1945 by Alain Gheerbrant who published the texts of George Bataille, Antonin Artaud, Benjamin Péret, Jacques Vaché and Camille Bryen, with whom he composed the Anthologie de la poésie naturelle. In 1948, he left Paris to lead of the expedition "Orénoque Amazon".
